All you need is Green

Green screen activations have been very trendy lately.
It provides flexibility to choose the background we want to create fun and unusual photo activations.

Why do we use the color green for these screens?

The technique used to do green screens animation is chroma keying. It consists in combining two frames or images by replacing a color in one frame with an image from another frame. The color in the foreground footage is made transparent, allowing a different image to be inserted into the photo.
.
The main reason why we use green is because of the difference in color between green and skin tone.
The camera needs to differentiate skin, hair, and clothes from the background because any green item will be replaced by the background. That means that if you are wearing green, your outfit will just disappear in the background.

What about blue?

Blue is often used because it also contrast with the human skin tones. If you wear green and don't want to disappear in the background, no problem. We'll just use a blue screen background, pick the color tone in the software and achieve the same effect.

Different support can be used for the background such as textile or painting, as long as it's green or blue and matte. A shiny or glossy background might reflect the light towards the camera and mess with shadows and highlights.
