Walk down Times Square in New York City these days and you will find it hard to miss the huge billboards advertising the upcoming release of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The science fiction film directed by Luc Besson will debut in theaters across the United States on Friday July 21st. So what better way to promote it than by setting up a photo booth activation?
Times Square, New York City
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets stars Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline. The two main characters are pictured on the movie posters hanging high above Times Square, alongside Rihanna who has a supporting role in the film.
Recreating a movie poster is always a good idea to create an immersive experience for fans. Back in May, when the film was first shown at the Film Festival in the French city of Cannes, the team at sharingbox got creative with Photoshop and the Yodabooth software to put visitors on the movie poster.
HOW IT WAS MADE
The main idea of this activation was to recreate the V-shaped layout of the movie poster. The Yodabooth software can handle a wide range of photo layouts so the design team created a V-shaped overlay for a portrait-oriented image.
Then, to make sure guests would align properly with the visible areas, the design team added custom screens to allow guests to see themselves on screen and position themselves before hitting the start button.
